A distinguished Chippendale mahogany wingback armchair, circa 1770. This generous chair features the classic high-backed winged form designed to shield the sitter from draughts. The frame is crafted from solid mahogany with elegant cabriole front legs terminating in finely carved ball-and-claw feet, joined by turned H-stretchers. Recently re-upholstered in a period-appropriate deep green damask fabric with brass nailhead trim. The seat retains traditional horsehair padding over webbing.
