A fine Victorian brass sextant manufactured by the renowned instrument makers Troughton & Simms of London, circa 1865. The sextant features a silver-inlaid arc with vernier scale reading to 10 seconds of arc, three index shades, and three horizon shades. All mirrors and lenses are original and in working condition. Housed in its original fitted mahogany case with brass lock and carrying handle. The case also contains a magnifying loupe and adjustment key. An exceptional piece of maritime history.
