An exceptional Qing Dynasty (Qianlong period) blue and white porcelain vase dating to approximately 1780. The baluster-form vase is masterfully hand-painted with a five-clawed imperial dragon chasing a flaming pearl amongst stylised clouds. The cobalt blue pigment displays the characteristic tonal variations prized by collectors. Six-character Qianlong reign mark on base. Height: 38cm. Provenance: Private English country house collection since the early 20th century. Accompanied by a wooden display stand.
