An outstanding hand-knotted Persian Tabriz silk rug from approximately 1920. The central lozenge medallion is set against an ivory field densely populated with intricate floral arabesques, palmettes, and scrolling vine tendrils. The colour palette features rich burgundy, sapphire blue, gold, and sage green on a cream ground. With an exceptionally fine knot density of approximately 500 KPSI (knots per square inch). Dimensions: 200cm x 130cm. Recently professionally cleaned. A museum-quality floor covering or wall hanging.
