Details
A fine Dutch school oil painting on canvas depicting an opulent floral still life in the tradition of the great 17th and 18th century Dutch masters, circa 1740. The composition features a lavish arrangement of roses, tulips, peonies, and morning glories in a classical stone urn, with scattered petals, a bird’s nest, and insects adding naturalistic detail. The rich, dark background creates dramatic chiaroscuro contrast with the luminous blooms. Presented in what appears to be its original carved and water-gilded Rococo frame. Canvas dimensions: 60cm x 45cm. Frame dimensions: 78cm x 63cm. Relined in the 19th century; surface cleaned and varnished.
